Overview

Are you interested in joining a dynamic and international team of professionals to transform education? IE University's Language Center is looking for a Junior Manager to join its team!
 

In line with IE University’s commitment to fostering diversity, the Language Center (LC) offers students the opportunity to explore a wide range of languages at multiple proficiency levels across both the Segovia and Madrid campuses. Languages offered include Spanish, French, Chinese, Portuguese, German, Arabic, and Applied English. As an in-house service, the LC enables students to seamlessly integrate language learning into their academic journey, enriching their global perspective.

 

The Junior Manager (JM) plays a key role in the day-to-day management of the Language Center, working closely with the Executive Director to ensure efficient operations and high-quality student services. This role involves overseeing the implementation of policies and procedures, supporting faculty, and delivering a world-class student experience.

 

The JM is also expected to contribute actively to the continuous development and innovation of the Language Center, ensuring that both student and faculty perspectives are incorporated into improvements. As a primary point of contact for students, the JM handles complex or sensitive issues requiring escalation and sound judgment.

 

This position requires strong coordination across teams and departments, including supervising staff, managing logistics, monitoring operations, and ensuring alignment with institutional standards. The Junior Manager reports directly to the Executive Director of the Language Center and collaborates with faculty, students, and multiple departments across IE University to support program success.

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid - IE Tower. 

Responsibilities

Your role as a Junior Manager will involve:

 

Student Support 

  • Meet regularly with students to provide guidance, resolve issues, and offer support with empathy and discretion. 
  • Assist students facing academic challenges and monitor progress. 
  • Manage and oversee student communications. 
  • Develop and improve procedures, academic guides, and support materials. 
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the student experience based on feedback and observation. 
  • Follow up on students under academic observation or with special circumstances. 

 

Faculty & Cross-Department Collaboration 

  • Liaise with faculty regarding student performance, feedback, grading timelines, and academic materials. 
  • Coordinate with key departments (Admissions, Exchange, Marketing, Planning, Documentation, Student Office, Campus Life, etc.) to ensure smooth operations. 
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and initiatives from planning through execution. 
  • Provide accurate data and reporting to the Executive Director, including tracking student performance and outcomes. 
  • Ensure timely resolution of issues by coordinating with internal stakeholders. 
  • Support faculty coordination within the Language Center. 
  • Participate in information sessions, open days, and other outreach activities. 

 

 Internal Development & Team Management 

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on the development and implementation of curricular and extracurricular initiatives. 
  • Supervise and mentor Program Coordinator, ensuring professionalism and effective teamwork. 

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience. 
  • International profile with experience working in multicultural environments. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen actively and respond with empathy. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively while demonstrating leadership and initiative. 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail. 
  • Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and respond to issues in a constructive, solution-oriented manner. 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. 
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Experience in language instruction is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated interest in or experience with educational technology and AI toolsparticularly in second language teaching and learningis highly desirable. 
  • Bilingual or advanced proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
