IE University is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Laboratory Technician to join an existing team in supporting the operation and development of scientific laboratories on the Segovia campus. This includes day-to-day oversight of multiple lab spaces—ranging from biotechnology and microbiology to geosciences and physics—and coordinating shared materials and equipment used across the Environmental Biotechnology, Environmental DNA–Microbiology, Biogeochemistry, Geo-Biology, and Physics laboratories.
The ideal candidate will have a solid academic background in Physics and experience working in laboratory environments that support both teaching and research activities. In addition to managing materials and equipment, the Laboratory Technician will play a key role in facilitating student lab sessions and maintaining compliance with safety protocols. Alongside another Technician, they will ensure that the spaces are technically and operationally ready for use by students and faculty across multiple degree programs, including Bachelor in Environmental Science and Sustainability (BESS), Biotechnology, and an upcoming Industrial Engineering program.
This role also includes the opportunity to assist in delivering General Physics courses, contribute to lab instruction, and support the university’s focus on hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. The candidate should be comfortable working across various scientific domains and assisting in both wet-lab and dry-lab settings, including those involving chemical, biological, and analytical processes.
The position focuses on maintaining functional, safe, and well-equipped laboratory spaces that meet the pedagogical and research needs of the university community. The Laboratory Technician will collaborate closely with another Laboratory Technician, the Segovia Lab Manager, and faculty to ensure that the laboratories operate smoothly, are stocked with the necessary supplies, and evolve in response to curricular and scientific requirements.
