Alinnea aims to accelerate climate action in Spain and globally through facilitation and dialogue between different actors. Its work focus on the sustainability of cities, green reindustrialization (renewable energies, electrification of mobility, circular economy and others) and on the sustainability of the food system, in relation to climate action.

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid.

 

Responsibilities

Your role as Senior Specialist, Climate Change will involve:

  • Preparation of technical reports on barriers and solutions needed in the aforementioned sectors, from a multi-stakeholder point of view.
  • Analysis of regulations related to climate change, identifying possible knots and recommendations for each of the actors involved in the same, particularly the private sector.
  • Participate in events organized by Alinnea and other organizations presenting the results of the analyses performed.
  • Contribute to Alinnea's data analysis needs.
  • Follow up on Alinnea's strategic communication plan.
  • Develop specific communications for key social and economic sectors for Alinnea's activity within and outside the climate community. including writing news articles, press releases and others.
  • Contribute to the organization of Alinnea events from a strategic communication point of view.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should have:

 

The candidate must have at least 10 years of experience in working on the climate agenda, either from a public policy development point of view, business strategy development or in the development and implementation of strategic communication and advocacy plans in this field.

 

It is important to have worked in different sectors linked to the climate agenda (mobility, industry, energy, finance, food and others)

We are looking for a person who:

  • Has a demonstrated interest and experience in the climate change agenda.
  • Is capable of preparing technical reports on climate action in the above sectors, analyzing economic and social factors that can promote the competitiveness of the sector at the international level and integrating elements related to just transition.
  • Has had professional relationships with different actors (civil society, private sector, public sector, academia) relevant to the climate agenda.
  • Has the capacity to develop effective advocacy plans with different actors in the public, private and social sectors.
  • Has experience in the development of strategic communication campaigns linked to climate action and based on data analysis.
  • Has participated in advocacy activities (journalism or public affairs) related to the climate agenda.

Academic background:

  • Professional in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Economics, International Relations, Communication Sciences with master studies in environmental policy and economics, clean industry, sustainable finance, climate change and related fields
  • Excellent knowledge of Spanish and English (written and spoken, minimum C1), other languages will be an asset.

Other knowledge:

 

Knowledge in the following subjects will be an asset:

  • Very good knowledge of recent policy and debates in the Spanish framework, at EU level and at global level (UNFCCC Agenda) around the climate change agenda, energy transition, clean industry, just transition and the 2030 Agenda.
  • technology development in the energy sector, industry and circular economy,
  • necessary investments and the role of the private sector in accelerating climate action, particularly in relation to the incentives needed to promote its active role,
  • very good knowledge of common communication tools for the use of presentations, including major AI-based applications.
  • the use of programs for data analysis and preparation of visualizations (Power BI, R, etc.).

Professional experience:

  • Experience working on climate action projects funded by European, multi-lateral and/or international organizations is an asset.
  • Experience in web content management and social networks, including the development of specific communication material for different networks will be an asset.
  • Experience working in an international environment is an asset.
  • Experience with Instagram, LinkedIn and WordPress (for web management) is a plus.
