Director of Working Professionals and Alumni Career Services

Alumni and Working Professionals Career Services provides job search and career management services to 90,000 IE University Alumni Community and 400+ Part Time students to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to pursue successful careers throughout their professional lives. 

This position identifies, develops, and nurtures relationships with alumni in order to develop them into active and strong supporters of the school.  

The scope of Alumni and WP needs for career services is extensive:  

• Alumni and WP might be carrying out a job search, career shift, re-entering the workforce, planning a portfolio career/late career transition, starting or growing an entrepreneurial business, or accelerating their career.  
• Some Alumni and Part Time students are employed and need assistance with obtaining promotions within their existing companies, preparing for performance reviews, making internal company job moves, negotiating executive-level job offers/employment contracts, and dealing with executive search consultants.  
• In addition, alumni range from right-out-of-school profiles looking for jobs, to those more senior and already in management or executive positions. The leader of Alumni Career Services and Working Professionals provides overall direction and operations of this mix of career-focused services.

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid.

Your role as a Director will involve: 

• Manage all aspects of Alumni Career and WP Services, including: strategic planning, policies, budget, technology, careers program development and delivery, selection and management of third-party coaches and vendors. 

• Align with new T&C strategic goals to provide a world-class Alumni + WP service that leverages on technology to achieve scalability and efficiency in the usage of existing resources. 

• Together with Director of Advising, develop a strategy to structure a Student-Alumni connection plan that facilitates the involvement of the alumni network on the career advancement of students through coaching, mentoring, referrals and other activities. 

• Identify, hire, and manage third-party career coaches, content-experts, and vendors for the delivery of career coaching, group coaching, career programs, webinars, and on-line services. Monitor quality and performance of such third-parties to ensure superior services to alumni 

• Coordinate with the Global Alumni Relations team and the Quality, Accreditations and Rankings team, to ensure alignment of strategy, services offered and messages delivered to alumni + WP. 

• Closely work with WP school's academic offices in developing comprehensive career programming. 

• Develop relationships with alumni who volunteer worldwide on the development of career programs for various constituencies, including geographic chapters, alumni and student affinity groups, and alumni board of directors.  

• Working closely with a peer network from other top business schools, they share resources, programming and best practice in order to finesse the school’s career service offering. 

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Career coaching experience at mid-career and executive levels in all aspects of career management, plus a knowledge of mid-career and executive-level career development resources. Must have significant experience working with business professionals.  

• Program development and management skills. Must be experienced in designing, creating and implementing early, mid-career, and executive-level job search and career development programs.  

• Organizational, time management and execution skills. Must be able to set expectations effectively, follow up with individuals, organize groups and successfully execute tasks and projects.  

• Excellent interpersonal skills to manage a diverse and demanding professional adult population. Ability to provide creative solutions for the specific needs of alumni.  

• Ability to hire, select, train, motivate, supervise, manage, and evaluate work performance of staff and outsourced service providers. 

• Demonstrated expertise in networking with targeted executive-level professionals. Ideally has solid network of contacts with executive-level career professionals and referral contacts for alumni.  

• Presentation and public speaking skills 

• Knowledge of leading trends and literature in job search and career development. Solid awareness of career development resources, outsourced providers, experts, and training materials.  

• Solid corporate experience, with the gravitas to represent IEU and liaise with senior leaders at international forums, conferences and events.
